Plans underway for 2010 Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix (PVGP)
Allegheny Chapter PVGP Planning Committee & Bill Permar – Planning
Chair
If you participated in the 2009 PVGP you know what a great event we had.
Our first driving school in several years saw a number of BMW enthusiasts
learn more about their cars in a day then most people learn in a lifetime.
We hosted our eleventh and largest club race which was viewed from our trackside
corral with catered lunches from the Wexford Post Office Deli. The following
week we participated in numerous car shows, hosted a chapter reception and
two driving events. The second weekend of the PVGP we had over 230 cars on
display, a catered lunch and great BMW vintage racing. Make plans now to
come out and enjoy one of our events. If you participated this past year
you helped us raise over $70,000 for the PVGP charities – a new Marque
of the Year record! Setting such a record in a time of economic downturn
makes this an even more phenomenal accomplishment. So, take comfort in knowing
that you helped two great charities the Autism
Society of Pittsburgh and Allegheny
Valley School which
operates residential and therapeutic programs throughout Pennsylvania for
children and adults
with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Save the Dates – as many of you begin to outline your BMW events for
2010 – plan on joining us to make next year’s event a success.
A team from the Allegheny Chapter has been organized to plan the 2010 PVGP
activities. Those plans right now include a driving school on Friday July
16, a club race and corral at BeaveRun in Wampum, PA on Saturday July 17th & and
Sunday July 18th to kickoff the first weekend of the 10 day event. To round
out the final weekend of the festivities we have the following plans started.
A chapter reception on Thursday July 22, a drive and road tour on Friday,
July 23. A two day corral, BMW Vintage Club Race and lunch will again be
held at Schenley Park on Saturday July 24 & Sunday July 25th. Look for
details on our website "www.alleghenyBMWCCA.org" for updated information
or to learn more about the event.
